We were contracted by Andritz to complete layout drafting, construction of bucket elevators, drag chain conveyors, screw conveyors and all the walkways, platforms, stairs, ladders and associated support steel work for the Solid Energy Renewable Fuels Pellet Plant in Taupo.

The draughting was completed using the latest 3d Inventor software, a system Conveyor Industries have been using for the past six years.

Due to the locations of the Andritz offices around the world and other key contributors Conveyor Industries arranged on line conferences to over come the geographical and logistical issues associated with developing a system of this complexity.

On line conferences allow for invited contributors to view Conveyor Industries 3d model of the system being developed from where ever their office is in the world.

This system allows for the various contributors and client to be closely involved with the layout and design of the project, its like a ‘virtual tour’ in 3d.

“Being able to provide a detailed 3d model has significant benefits for our clients explained Dennis Hey, Managing Director. “2d modeling required components such as structure, dimension and design to be outlined on separate individual drawings and relied on the expertise of draughtsmen to notice clashes and errors. The 2d process meant fixing problems such as incorrectly placed holes and clashing pipes was very time consuming and customers weren’t able to see the whole product while it was being developed”.

As a result of implementing this software clients feel more involved in the design process and it gives them greater clarity on the outcome of their projects.

Since completing this project Conveyor Industries have worked closely with Andritz using the same system in a variety of industries throughout New Zealand and Australia
